The Suffolk County Planning Commission has voted against a proposed Tuckahoe Shopping Center zone change application by a vote of 8-5. The vote which took place on December 2nd does not stop the shopping center proposal but it does mean that the Southampton Town Board will need four out of five board members to approve the zone change application. The plan had included a 40,000 sq. ft. supermarket on Magee Street and a 15,000 sq. food shopping center.
Major applications, including the Tuckahoe Shopping Center, will be tabled until there is a full Board in January.
